Mike Has Completed His Third Round of Chemo

Julie Eastman

Hello once again.

Not too much new to report on Mike. He has completed his third and final round of chemo. His blood counts have hit rock bottom as they are supposed to and will start to come up again in about a week or so. He feels pretty good and is beginning to feel the ‘routine’ of all this. It is not unlike having to go to work every day as there are certain things he has to do and it becomes monotonous like anything else. I take it as a good sign that he feels annoyed at times as it means he’s well enough to feel something besides just lousy.

We are still waiting for word on a marrow donor. It is excruciating having to wait. We do our best not to think about it but it always creeps into our thoughts. Some nurses tell us that if you need a donor they will find you one, so we cling to this thought and just wait and wait and wait. If they find a donor soon, the transplant will still be weeks away as it takes awhile to arrange everything.

In the meantime, we are enjoying the summer. Kyle and I go out on outings and when Mike can, he joins us. He has to stay away from crowds and direct sunlight so he’s rather limited in what he can partake in. He does need his rest too so when we are out he has some time to himself.

Anyhow, will let you know when we know more. Take care everyone.
